Ramos was champion of the Torneo Clausura 2017, the Uruguayan Championship 2017 and the 2018 Supercopa, coaching a total of 72 official matches since his debut in January 2017. As announced in a joint press conference with the club’s president, Jorge Barrera, the Coach will continue his career in Saudi Arabia.
Leonardo Ramos’s period as Head Coach of Peñarol’s first team came to an end. During this time, he managed to obtain the Clausura Championship 2017, the Uruguayan Championship 2017 and the 2018 Supercopa.
After taking over as Head Coach in January 2017, he led 72 official matches, achieving 70.8% of the points contested, with 47 victories, 12 draws and 13 losses. Locally, the percentage of points won rose to 76.7%, with 42 wins, 12 draws and 6 losses in the 60 games he led. All in all, Ramos and his team scored 155 goals under his leadership, with 67 against.
As it was announced by Ramos and the president of the club, Jorge Barrera, the coach decided to end his era in Peñarol and emigrate to Saudi Arabian soccer. Club Atlético Peñarol wishes him the greatest success in his new endeavor.
Leonardo Ramos’s era in Peñarol is marked by the winning of title number 51 for our institution as well as the achievement of the first Supercopa in the Uruguayan soccer league. Therefore, the club is thankful to him and his staff and our doors will remain open for them.
