When the coach Leonardo Ramos sent Brian Rodríguez, aka “the botija from Tranqueras”, to the field in the 57th minute of game, he became the protagonist of a historical moment in this young player’s career: his debut in the main field of Peñarol. At 17 years old and with an outstanding career in the youth division, he earned the coach’s trust.
The young player was position as right midfielder, replacing Giovanni González.
Now Rodriguez is part of the first team, despite his young age which would place him in fifth division. He stands out for his speed and ball control.
In addition to Rodríguez, another player rising from Mirasol’s youth teams, Franco Martínez, debuted in first division against Danubio in a draw match. He played in double midfield position, replacing Walter Gargano who was in leave for an injury.
